This guide will walk you through the process of configuring a user in Microsoft to display PowerBI reports in Q-Play. We will cover both the standard setup without multi-factor authentication (MFA) and a more secure setup with MFA.
Standard Setup
To effectively access PowerBI reports in Q-Play, it is necessary to disable traditional MFA rules for the respective user. This ensures access to the reports via a username and password, which is considered sufficiently secure by many.
Important Steps:
1. Deaktiver MFA:
The user must not have MFA enabled (this includes SMS, app-based authentication, etc.).
2. Create a Dedicated User:
We recommend creating a specific user solely for Info Screens, for example, "Q-Play@domain.com".
If you require higher levels of security, please continue reading in the section on MFA configuration.
MFA Configuration
For companies where MFA is a requirement to access business-critical systems, the following setup can be used to integrate MFA with access to Q-Play's PowerBI app.
Advanced Setup:
Instead of traditional authentication methods like apps or SMS codes, the IP address of the Q-Play server requesting content is used. This approach requires technical expertise and may necessitate assistance from your IT Department.
Preparation:
First, follow the steps in the standard setup to ensure that the user is correctly configured without MFA.
IP-based Access Rule:
Set up an access rule that only allows login from a specific IP address, in this case, the IP address of the Q-Play PowerBI server (167.235.239.183).
Once these steps are completed, the user is configured with maximum security and is ready for use in the Q-Play PowerBI app.
By following these steps, you ensure that your PowerBI reports can be securely and effectively displayed on Q-Play info screens. Remember, advanced configurations like MFA setup may require additional technical support. Do not hesitate to contact your IT experts for assistance.
