The Instagram app in Q‑Play makes it possible to display posts from your Instagram account directly on your screens. The app supports three display layouts:
- Slider (carousel).
- Grid (square grid).
- Wall (masonry layout).
Before you can use the app, you must set up an Instagram integration that connects your account via Facebook Business.
Requirements
- An Instagram account connected to Facebook Business.
- Access to Q‑Play with permission to create integrations.
- A layout or playlist where the Instagram app can be used.
How to Set Up the Instagram Integration
1. Open the Instagram Social integration.
Navigate to Settings > Integrations and select Instagram Social.
2. Name the integration.
Enter a name in the Name field, for example “Instagram Social”.
3. Authorize via Facebook Business.
In the Credentials section, click Authorize.
You will be redirected to Facebook Business to log in and grant access.
4. Select the Instagram account.
After logging in, choose the account you want to connect.
Click Continue.
5. Create a script that fetches Instagram posts.
Under Scheduled scripts, click + to add a new script.
Configure:
- Script: Instagram Feed.
- Name: “Instagram Account” (or your preferred name).
- Type: Latest Posts or Hashtag search - If you choose hashtag search, also fill out what the script should search for. If you want to search for mulitple hashtags, seperate the names by , (comma).
- Schedule type: On-demand or Scheduled.
- On-demand means, the integration will only update if a presentation is being used. The player will ask the integration to fetch new data.
- Scheduled means, that the integration will update at a set time, whether or not its being used in a presentation.
Click Save to confirm.
6. Verify the integration.
Open the Integration status tab to view script runs and resources.
For first time setup, you need to press the little "play" button to the right of the script name.
If successful, you will see a JSON resource containing your Instagram posts.
Using the Instagram app in Q‑Play
Once the integration is active:
- Open Apps.
- Select the Instagram app.
- Choose your configured Instagram account.
- Select the desired layout (Slider, Grid, or Wall).
- Adjust number of posts, display duration, and design settings.
- Add the app to your layout or playlist.
