Installation Guide for IOT PowerPlug

Introduction

This installation guide is designed to assist you in the proper setup of your IoT PowerPlug, an intelligent device that automates the power-down of energy-consuming products via Q-Power.

Requirements before Installation

1 x Computer with Wi-Fi-access. 
1 x Power Outlet

Safety Precautions

  1. The IoT PowerPlug must be mounted securely and kept out of reach of unauthorized individuals. If you are unsure about the installation, consult a qualified electrician.
  1. Avoid using the PowerPlug on devices that require controlled shutdowns (e.g., computers running Windows OS), as it may cause damage over time.

Part 1 - Connecting to Wi-Fi.



This section of the guide helps you connect your IoT PowerPlug to the internet. This is a critical step, as the product requires internet access to function correctly. Follow the steps carefully to ensure a stable connection and avoid errors during setup.

1. On your computer, open the network settings and connect to the device’s Wi-Fi network. This network will typically have a name that includes the device’s “DeviceID”.

2. Open your web browser and enter the following IP address: 192.168.33.1. This will open the device’s configuration page.


3. Click on Settings.


4. Navigate to the Wi-Fi settings section on the configuration page.


5. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list of available networks, enter the password for the network, and save the changes by clicking on Save Settings.


7. After saving the settings, the device will attempt to connect to the selected network. Check that the network name and status are displayed under “Connected At,” indicating that the device is now connected to the internet.


Part 2 - Connecting and using Q-Power.



1. Inside the Overview section, you can see how many of your PowerPlugs are online, offline, turned on, and turned off.


2. In the four different fields, you can see the following:
  1. Current Power Usage: The current power usage in watts by the company via PowerPlug.
  2. Total Power Consumption: Total kWh consumption since the first PowerPlug was set up.
  3. Power Saving: How many kWh you have saved in the past 24 hours.
  4. CO2 Emission Reduction: How much CO2 you have saved in the past 24 hours.



3. Click on Devices.


4. Click on Add Device.


5. Name the device.


6. Enter the device’s DeviceID (found on the PowerPlug or its packaging).


7. Click on Add.


8. Turn the device on and off to test its functionality.


9. Click on Add Group.


10. Name the group.


11. Click the edit icon next to the PowerPlug device.


12. Add the device to the group you created.


13. Click on Save.


14. Now you can see that the PowerPlug device is listed under the group you created.


15. Click on Schedule.


16. Click on Select Group.


17. Select the group for which you want to set up a schedule.


18. Specify the times you want the PowerPlug or group to turn on and off, as well as which days the schedule should apply.


19. Click on Save.


20. Now you can see that the schedule is active.



Trobleshooting


  1. PowerPlug not connecting to Wi-Fi: Check if other devices can connect to the network. Restart the PowerPlug and try again. Ensure you have entered the correct Wi-Fi password.
  2. PowerPlug not responding: Perform a reset by holding the reset button for 10 seconds. Then, follow the setup process again.
  3. Unable to connect to Q-Power: Ensure you have the latest version of Q-Power installed. Check your internet connection and try restarting your router if the issue persists.
