"Invalid connect code" and how to fix on a X96H

If you are getting an "Invalid connect code" error when trying to connect your X96H, this is coursed by an error in the token file. To fix this issue follow this guide.

  1. Press the "SET" button on the remote, just above the blue circle with the arrow keys and OK in the middle. This will open the settings.
  2. Go to "Apps & notifications".
  3. Next go to the "Default apps".
  4. Then go down to the "Home app" and choose "MediaBox launcher" instead of Q-Play. You cant see that "Home app" is highlighted.*
  5. Once the new home app is set, go over to the "Setting" tab, and open "Apps".
  6. If Q-Play is the latest used app, it will be at the top, if not, press the "See all apps" button and find Q-Play on the list. Once inside the Q-Play settings, clear the data and cache. This will delete the token file, and force Q-Play to create a new one on the next launch.
  7. Now to ensure Q-Play always opens up if closed or when the device is restarted, press the "SET" button again, go dwn to the "Apps & notifications", "Default apps" and set Q-Play to be the home app.
  8. Q-Play should now open by it self, and a new correct connect code should now appear.

*Missing the "MediaBox launcher" in the home app settings?
  1. Press the "SET" button, and go scroll down to the bottom and open the "System" menu.
  2. Go down to the "Reset options", and choose "Erase all data (factory reset)", this will reset the device and the "MediaBox launcher" will now be available for choosing in the home app settings. Dont worry, Q-Play wont be deleted.
  3. You should now be ready to follow the first steps again.
