Installation Guide for QBic Meeting Room Display

Introduction

The QBic meeting room display is an innovative solution to optimize meeting planning and management of meeting rooms. With an intuitive user interface, Q-Cal offers improved efficiency in any work environment.

Placement

  1. Choose a location that is easily accessible and visible to all meeting participants.
  2. Ensure the display is mounted at eye level for optimal visibility.
  3. Place the display near the meeting room it represents to avoid confusion.

Internet connection

  1. Network Cable: For the most stable connection, it is recommended to use a network cable. This ensures a constant connection without interruptions.
  2. WIFI: If a wired internet connection is not possible, ensure your WIFI connection is stable and strong at the display's location.

Before installation

A successful installation of the QBic meeting room display begins with thorough preparation. Before you start the installation process, there are important steps to take to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Q-Cal app

To set up Q-Cal on a meeting room display, you need to follow this guide, which describes how to download the Q-Cal file and then insert it into a USB stick.

Placement

  1. Choose a location that is both visible and easily accessible for all users, mounted at eye level, and near the meeting room it represents.

Internet

  1. Decide whether to use a wired connection or WIFI. We recommend a wired connection for stability, but if necessary, ensure a strong WIFI connection.

Other

  1. Necessary hardware, tools, wall mounts, etc.

During installation

Once you have prepared everything necessary for your QBic meeting room display and selected the optimal location, you are ready to start the installation process. This section guides you through the necessary steps to get your display up and running.

  1. Plug the included power supply into the power port on your QBic meeting room display.
  2. Find and press the "Settings" icon on the start screen to open the settings menu.


    You now have 2 options, download Q-Cal directly on the device, or download on a pc and transfer it using a USB drive. If you want to transfer using a USB drive, go to step 7.


  3. When in the settings, navigate to "Advanced settings", then "Apps" and see all apps. Depending on the Android version, you should have either Google Chrome or Lightning. Now open one of them, both are browsers and both works for the next step.
  4. Navigate to https://app.q-cal.net/apk/Q-Cal-2.1.25-release.apk to download the Q-Cal app directly on your device.
  5. Close down the browser, go back to "Advanced settings" and open the "Files" app, here you should see your newly downloaded Q-Cal apk file. Now press it to install Q-Cal, you might get a pop-up about allowing non-standard apps to run on your device - please allow this for Q-Cal to be installed.

  6. To install Q-Cal using a USB drive, first log in to your Q-Cal account, press the "Views" button, then go to "Meeting Room Displays" and now press the "Download til Android" and download the latest Q-Cal version. After downloading it, transfer it to a USB drive, and plug this into your device.


  7. Choose "Storage" in the settings to manage storage devices.


  8. Press "Apps" to see a list of installed applications.


  9. Find and press "Files" to open the file manager.



  10. Insert the USB stick containing the Q-Cal file into the USB port on the display.
  11. Select the USB stick from the list of available devices in the file manager.


  12. Navigate to the Q-Cal file on the USB stick.
  13. Press the file to start the installation process.


  14. Confirm the installation by pressing the "Continue" button.


  15. Press "Install" to begin the installation of the Q-Cal app.


  16. Once the installation is complete, press "Done" to finish the installation process.


  17. Go back to the start screen by pressing the middle button.


  18. Find and press the search icon ("magnifying glass") to search for installed apps.


  19. Enter "Q-Cal" in the search field and select the app from the results.


  20. The Q-Cal app will now start. Wait approximately 20 seconds until the app is fully loaded.


After installation

When the Q-Cal app has started, a "connect code" will be displayed on the screen. This code is necessary to connect the display to the system.
