The Text Scroller app displays your own text on a slide as an endless scrolling ticker. It's useful for announcements, news tickers, or short messages. If you want text that stands still, use the Text app instead.
Find the Text Scroller app in the DesignTool and click it to add it to your slide. See Working with apps in Q-Play if this is your first time adding an app.
The app is added to your slide with the placeholder text Insert text..., and the App Settings panel opens on the right.
In the App Settings panel, you can set the following:
Font Family: the font used for the text. The default is Roboto.
Font Weight: the thickness of the text, from 100 (thinnest) to 900 (heaviest). The default is Normal (400).
Custom Text: the text you want to show. Line breaks are kept, so if you enter several lines, they move together as one block.
Text Color: the color of the text. The default is black.
Text size: the size of the text, from 1 to 50. The default is 14. The text size follows the size of the screen, not the size of the app box, so making the app box bigger or smaller on your slide doesn't change the text size.
Scroll speed: how fast the text moves, in pixels per second, from 1 to 800. The default is 50.
Scroll Direction: how the text moves. Choose from:
Text alignment: whether the text is aligned left, center, or right. This setting only appears when Scroll Direction is set to Up>Down or Down>Up. The default is center.
The scrolling is endless. When the text has moved out of the app, it continues seamlessly from the other side, with no pause or jump.
If your text is shorter than the app box, it's repeated back to back, so there's never an empty gap in the ticker. This is expected and not an error.
