Installation - Q-Play on LG screen's

Introduction

Q-Play is a software program that allows you to display your digital signage design directly on your LG screen. With Q-Play, you can create and manage exciting content that captures the attention of your guests or colleagues in a simple and effective manner. This guide will walk you through the process of downloading, installing, and configuring Q-Play on your LG device, so you can start presenting your designs and messages with ease.

Notes:

This guide works on firmware SMK 4.03.40 or newer.
Q-Play is available for WebOS 4.0 and newer.

If you're unsure about which WebOS version your LG screen has, you can follow this guide.

1. Before Installation

Before installation, it is important to be well-prepared. The following is necessary:

  1. The LG screen has been powered on and the language selection has been made.
  2. The screen is connected to either the wired network or Wi-Fi.

2. During installation

Before you begin, it's important to ensure that all elements are ready for a smooth installation process.

Let's take a look at the important points you need to be aware of:

1. Navigate to "Time & Date" under the General section in the settings:
      1.a Enable automatic time management.
      1.b Time Zone:
            Continent: Europe, Country: Denmark, City: Copenhagen.
      1.c Go back and then navigate to "Power" under settings:
      1.e Disable "Power Off with No Signal".
      1.f Disable "Power Off with No IR Signal".
      1.g Disable "DPM (Standby Mode)".

2. Go to "Easy Setup (EZ Settings)".
      2.a Go to "Easy Setup (EZ Settings)".
      2.b Enable "Fully Qualified Domain Name".
      2.c Please enter the following URL into the field: "https://lgupdate.q-play.net/releases/lgwebos/com.lg.app.signage.ipk"
      2.d Under "Startup State for Application," select: "Local."
      2.e Under "Program Type," select: "IPK."
      2.f Under "Local Program Upgrade," press "External."
      2.g A pop-up window will appear on the screen, where you need to press "Confirm."
      2.h After pressing "Confirm," the screen will display "Execute," and it's important to turn off the screen using the remote control.
      2.i Turn on the TV using the remote control. The device will automatically install the Q-Play app thereafter.
      2.j Q-Play will now open on the device.

*Please be patient, as it may take up to 5 minutes for Q-Play to appear on the screen.
*Step 3.c: It's important that the URL address you enter is correct; otherwise, Q-Play cannot be downloaded.

3. After Installation

When you see the connect code on the screen, as shown in the image below, Q-Play is installed on the screen and is ready to be connected to a Q-Play account.


To add a design to the screen, follow these steps:
1. Log in to your Q-Play account where the device should be added.
2. Go to the player section.
3. Enter the 6-digit Connect Code from the screen into Q-Play.
