Guide to Using the Media Library in Q-Play: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

Guide to Using the Media Library in Q-Play

The Media Library is a central, shared space for all your media files. Everything uploaded here is available across all presentations, playlists, and apps in Q-Play.

Folder Tree

The left side of the screen shows a folder tree, making it easy to navigate your folders and subfolders. Click any folder to open it. You can hide the folder tree using the button in the top left to give yourself more space.
To move a file from one folder to another, drag and drop it onto the destination folder in the tree.

Toolbar

Use the search bar to find files and folders by name.

Filters

Filter your media by file type (Images, Videos, Audio, Documents), file size (Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, Huge), conversion status (Optimized, Converting, Failed, Not Optimized), uploaded date range, and modified date range. Use Reset all to clear all active filters.

Grid view

Displays your media as a visual grid of thumbnails.

List view

Displays your media as a list with columns for name, type, size, uploaded date, and modified date. Columns can be sorted. You can select multiple files using the checkboxes.

Show details

Opens a details panel on the right showing a preview of the selected file along with its name, type, file size, created date, modified date, and who uploaded it. For videos, the panel also shows the conversion status and a Regenerate button to re-trigger the conversion if needed.

New folder

Creates a new folder in the current location.

Upload

Upload files to the current folder. You can also drag and drop files directly into the library.

Video Conversion

When a video is uploaded, Q-Play automatically converts it to H.264 for optimized playback. The conversion status is visible in the file details panel. If a conversion fails or needs to be re-run, use the Regenerate button in the details panel.
